DAWCO at the heart of the Northern Plan

Sept-îles

Stéphane Tousignant, Vice-President, Project Services

Since the end of June, DAWCO has started a mandate in Sept-Îles for the Société Ferroviaire et Portuaire de la Pointe-Noire (SFPPN). The company's role is to serve as a multi-user marine terminal for handling of ore and to ensure the transit between the customers and the Port of Sept-Îles. This project consists to increase the storage capacity and efficiency of iron ore from various mines in the Wabush and Bloom sectors. DAWCO is responsible for the electrical component of the new stacker-reclaimer.

The execution strategy includes the ground assembly of the components on the conveyor sections which are then handled and installed by the mechanical contractor. The pulling of the cables and the connection to the components will be done afterwards.

Currently, our team of about twenty workers under the supervision of Alain Ross, Project Manager, is working hard to execute the mandate despite certain technical constraints. The work should be completed by the end of 2022. We wish a good continuity to the whole team and we hope that the legendary cold of the North Shore does not arrive too early this year!
