OUR HISTORY

1950

Dawcolectric founded on March 23, 1950 in Montreal. The origin of the name comes from the initials of each of the five original shareholders, Dahmer, Allen, Wright, Campbell and O'Rourke, combined with the acronym "lectric" from the name of the original parent company, Ontario Electric.

Arrival of Mr. Jean-Yves Tousignant and opening of the Halifax, Nova Scotia office .Development of Dawcolectric's silo expertise. Several mandates awarded in Quebec and the Maritimes.

1970

Strong growth thanks to diversification of heavy industrial construction projects in petrochemicals, oil & gas, metallurgy and pulp & paper. Our brand image was based on the importance of being well-equipped and well-tooled.

1988

Jean-Yves Tousignant becomes president and sole owner of Dawcolectric.

1996

Serge Tousignant joins his father as a manager bringing with him a new business vision: a multidisciplinary company able to offer complete construction expertise. Serge becomes president in 2012.
DL Intrumentation logo

1999

Creation of DL Instrumentation: Contractor specializing in precision instrumentation and control.
 
Project Magnola_Dawcolectric_2000

2000

Dawcolectric wins three major contracts: Sucre Lantic, Magnola and Irving.
Solimec logo

2001

Creation of Solimec, mechanical contractor, in order to realize Dawcolectric's new business vision of complementing its electrical and instrumentation expertise to become a multidisciplinary company.
DCM logo

2008

Creation of DCM Integrated Solutions, a sister company of DAWCO, operating in Western Canada in the fields of oil & gas, petrochemicals & chemicals, infrastructure, mining and metallurgy.
AMT - Service Center_Commercial Division

2010

Opening of the commercial division to respond to growing calls for tenders from the public, building and infrastructure sectors.

2015

Merger of Dawcolectric, SOLIMEC and DL Instrumentation into DAWCO Construction Enterprises.

DAWCO moves to Laval and Mr. Jean-François Lemay takes over as Chief Operating Officer.
