Côte-Vertu Garage

Montreal, (Quebec, Canada)
Integrated work: Construction

The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) awarded a major contract to DAWCO in 2018 for the construction of a new garage to add parking spaces for Orange line train cars.

DAWCO was mandated to carry out electrical work as part of the acquisition and installation of electrical and telecommunications equipment for this garage.

More specifically, the scope of work included:

  • Train car power supply, including transformer, rectifier, circuit breakers and other equipment
  • Lighting and electrical distribution in the tunnel
  • 25kV electrical distribution substation
  • Building electricity, including, 600V and lower electrical distribution and fire alarm
  • Telecommunications and networking
  • Battery chargers, railway signaling cabinets and boxes

During the execution of this project, the DAWCO team faced a number of challenges, including the presence of several trades and other constraints.

The new garage, which is built 25 metres underground, adds 10 parking spaces for metro cars, increasing service by up to 25%.

In September 2023, the STM received platinum Envision recognition for this project, the highest distinction in sustainable development for infrastructure projects and a first in Canada for a mass transit project.

DAWCO is proud to have played a part in the realization of this major project.
